Hull City man leaves on loan to join ex-Tigers defender in non-league
Hull City goalkeeper David Robson has joined Gainsborough Trinity on loan, as announced by their official club website.
Hull City have let the stopper head out the exit door on a temporary basis to get some game time under his belt.
Robson, 22, has linked up with the Northern Premier League side under ex-Tigers defender Russ Wilcox.
Their website has confirmed he will spend an initial one-month period with the non-league outfit.
Hull City loan exit
Robson should probably be playing at a higher level than the seventh tier but at least this exit gives him a chance to get some more experience.
He was on the books at Hearts before linking up with Hull as a youngster back in 2017.
The Wales youth international has since risen up through the academy ranks of the Championship club and has been a regular for them at various youth levels over recent years.
Robson penned his first professional deal in 2019 and his stay at the MKM Stadium was extended by a further 12 months last summer. His current contract expires at the end of June and Liam Rosenior’s side have a big decision to make on what to do with him next.
He made his first and only senior appearance for the Tigers in a Carabao Cup away trip to Bradford City back in August 2022.
The ‘keeper has had loan spells away from East Yorkshire at Tadcaster Albion, Farsley Celtic, Crawley Town and Darlington in the past to boost his development. He also had a stint at Gainsborough back in 2019 so already knows the club.
Robson finds himself down the goalkeeping pecking order of his parent club behind Ryan Allsop, Ivor Pandur and Matt Ingram.
Hull are back in action on Saturday with an away trip to Preston North End.
