Coventry City 2023 signing emerges as Bundesliga transfer target

Coventry City left-back Jay Dasilva has been watched by Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, reporter Alan Nixon has said on his Patreon.

Coventry City will spend this summer gearing up for another season of Championship football after falling short of the play-off spots this time around.

The Sky Blues finished in 9th after their form fell off late on. However, they still made memories with a remarkable FA Cup run, which only ended at the hands of Manchester United in the semi-finals.

The hope will be that they’re right in the thick of the promotion fight come next season, with this talented group boasting many players who can inspire City to a long-awaited Premier League return.

However, Coventry City have a handful of players who will likely draw interest this summer, and fresh claims have already emerged.

Writing on his Patreon, reporter Alan Nixon claims Bundesliga side SC Freiburg are admirers of left-back Jay Dasilva.

The 26-year-old managed five assists in 42 games over the 2023/24 season, his first with the club following a move from Championship rivals Bristol City last summer. It is said that Freiburg’s top scout Tobias Gies watched Dasilva last week.

Another big sale for Coventry City?

Coventry City were in the limelight last summer as star men Gustavo Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres drew interest. They had become standout players for the Sky Blues and were duly rewarded with moves to Sheffield United and Sporting CP respectively.

While the club may not have reached the heights of last year’s play-off final this time around, there are still eye-catching assets who could earn moves away.

Perhaps Dasilva hasn’t had the starring season other assets such as Ben Sheaf – who has also drawn interest – have had. However, the sale of a player under contract for three years could mark a notable profit considering he joined for nothing last summer.
