Free Agent Ezekiel Turner Adds To Star-Studded San Francisco 49ers Roster, Agrees To One-Year Deal
Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers continue to pad up one of the most talented rosters in the NFL with Ezekiel Turner the latest addition to the Bay Area team. The versatile linebacker has agreed to a one-year deal and is set to earn $1.3 million in 2024, per sources.
Turner was a standout defensive back and special teams player for the Washington Huskies between 2015-2017, but was overlooked by NFL teams and went undrafted in 2018. The Arizona Cardinals took a chance on the 6’2″ utility man, a decision that paid off for the organization.
Last season, Turner featured in 20 games and recorded 16 tackles. He was also used extensively as part of the special teams unit.
Overall, he spent six seasons in Arizona and finished with 83 tackles over 80 games with the organization.
Several teams were interested in the free agent but the decision to join the 49ers seems like a good fit for both parties. Turner is still only 27 years old and will have to opportunity to establish himself as a permanent fixture in Nick Sorensen’s new-look defense.
The San Francisco 49ers will once again begin the NFL season as favorites for the NFC. The teams has several big name stars returning on the offensive and defensive front including Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Nick Bosa and George Kittle. The club has set the standard in the conference reaching the NFC championship game in four of the last five seasons and progressing to two Super Bowl appearances.
