Fabrizio Romano: Nottingham Forest 23-year-old will now leave, medical booked for Monday

Jonathan Panzo will now leave Nottingham Forest tomorrow with Standard Liege set to sign the central defender.

This news comes from Fabrizio Romano.

So, what has the transfer guru said about Forest defender Panzo? Let’s take a closer look…

Jonathan Panzo set to leave Nottingham Forest

Well, it seems as though Panzo is set to head out on yet another loan away from Forest after spells with Coventry and Cardiff.

This time, however, it could be eventually turned into a permanent deal, with Liege getting an option to buy him.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano who claims that Panzo will be due in Belgium tomorrow for a medical ahead of an initial loan.

Panzo has only made one appearance for Forest since signing from Dijon during the January transfer window of 2022.

His only outing came during a 1-1 draw against Hull when Forest rested several players ahead of the 2021/22 play-off campaign.

Last season, the defender played his part as Coventry lost to Luton in the Championship play-off final.

They chose not to sign him permanently, however, and a loan spell at Cardiff didn’t go according to plan.

Forest wise to include buy option in loan deal

Ultimately, it’s hard to imagine Forest ever giving Panzo the level of game time he craves to kick-start his career.

With that said, the player must be keen to have a clause inserted in this loan that allows him to make a successful loan permanent.

At 23-years-old, the defender simply has to go out and play some regular football over a consistent period.

Panzo isn’t going to be doing that at Forest anytime soon and this move to play for Standard Liege looks like an exciting one for him.

The defender is arguably a victim of the successful few years at Forest and in our view, there should be no ill feelings when he does depart the club.
