Orchard Park, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills selected Kentucky running back Ray Davis with the 128th pick in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.

Davis, 24, rushed for 1,129 yards last season and had 21 total touchdowns for the Wildcats. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein had a fourth-round grade on Davis, who joins a Bills backfield lead by James Cook.

“Three-down back with an adequate blend of toughness between the tackles and production out of the backfield,” Zierlein wroteKentucky basketball takeaways from Mark Pope introduction | Lexington Herald Leader

Cook was the Bills’ starting running back last season, sharing the backfield with Ty Johnson (who signed back with the Bills in free agency) and veterans Latavius Murray and Leonard Fournette. Davis spent two seasons at Temple, two seasons at Vanderbilt, and finished his college career with Kentucky. Both Davis and Cook are the same age.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said at the combine that Davis’s lower body reminded him of five-time Pro Bowl running back Frank Gore, who played for the Bills for one season in 2019.Kentucky basketball takeaways from Mark Pope introduction | Lexington Herald Leader

Davis stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 211 pounds. He’s the first running back in the history of college football to record 1,000-yard rushing seasons with three different FCS schools (Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Temple).
