Ruggs pleaded guilty to being under the influence when he was in a fatal car crash in November of 2021. According to prosecutors, Ruggs had a blood-alcohol level that was twice the legal limit, and he was driving at a speed of 156 mph when he crashed into 23-year-old Tina Tintor’s car.

Ruggs was sentenced to a minimum of three years, and a maximum of 10 years. The 25-year-old was sentenced on Aug. 9, 2023, and he will be eligible for parole in 2026.

The former Las Vegas Raiders WR now works for government offices making $2.50 an hour. In the article from 8 News Now, government documents explained that inmates in Ruggs’ position are low-risk inmates.

“[Community trusty offenders] represent a limited potential to misbehave and represent a low risk to escape while assigned to employment within the community,” documents said.

Earlier this month Raiders defensive end Janarius Robinson was arrested for drunk driving on the Vegas Strip, according to local Las Vegas reporter Cristen Drummond.

Robinson has been in the NFL for three years. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2021 draft. He spent some time on the Philadelphia Eagles in his rookie season after being waived by the Vikings, but he has only ever recorded a stat for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023.
