Patriots teammate reacts to Kyle Dugger’s 4-year extensio
Kyle Dugger earned himself a four-year extension, and it caught the attention of one of his New England Patriots teammates.
Shortly after a report surfaced of the deal, which was confirmed to MassLive’s Mark Daniels, Kendrick Bourne took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to congratulate Dugger.
“Let’s get it!!! Congrats brudda u deserve it!!!,” Bourne posted. “That hard work been put in!”
Dugger played a key role for the Patriots defense last year, especially after they lost both Christian Gonzalez and Matthew Judon to injuries.
Drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Dugger quickly made his presence known to the team. In four seasons, the 28-year-old has started 52 of 61 games, has 343 tackles and nine interceptions. He finished the 2023 season with a career-high 109 tackles.
The 2023 season saw the Patriots struggle mightily, but the defense was a bright spot. And with Dugger under contract, and Gonzalez and Judon figuring to be 100% healthy next year, New England’s defense might be a bit more dangerous in 2024.
