Ipswich Town Had Lengthy Contract Ready For Target

Ipswich Town were prepared to hand Blackburn Rovers striker Sam Gallagher a three-year contract if he had made the move to Portman Road, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Kieran McKenna wanted more attacking options adding to his squad in the transfer window and the club landed Kieffer Moore on loan from Bournemouth.

Ipswich wanted to sign Gallagher from Blackburn, but the Ewood Park outfit would not play ball and turned down offers for the striker.

Blackburn are set to trigger a clause in Gallagher’s contract to now extend it by a further year in order that he cannot depart for nothing in the summer.

Gallagher though would have got significant security if he had been able to join Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys were ready to hand him a three-and-a-half year contract, running until the summer of 2024.

It remains to be seen if Ipswich revisit their interest in Gallagher in the summer.

Gallagher came through the youth set-up at Plymouth Argyle and Southampton, and joined Blackburn in 2019.
