Club open exit door for Sheffield Wednesday striker target this summer
Sheffield Wednesday are still looking to bring in a striker, with one target set to be sold this summer.
Amid Sheffield Wednesday’s on-going pre-season preparations ahead of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, German boss Danny Rohl has still continued his pursuit to bring a striker into his side.
Striker options are scarce at the moment, despite the arrival of Championship experienced goalscorer Jamal Lowe, arriving on a free transfer from Bournemouth.
Young attacker Bailey Cadamarteri is also an option for Rohl, who was able to massively develop last season when the German manager took up the top job at Hillsborough.
A spot is still open for a striker to come in at Sheffield Wednesday, with the likes of Ike Ugbo and Sory Kaba piquing the interest of Rohl.
Despite the signing of a striker taking its time, Sheffield Wednesday have received a positive update involving one of their options.
Sheffield Wednesday target Sory Kaba set to leave Las Palmas
Sheffield Wednesday have received a positive update amid their ongoing pursuit of former Cardiff City attacker Kaba with the Guinean international set to leave, per Spanish outlet Canarias.
There is reportedly ‘confidence’ for Las Palmas to move Kaba onto pastures new, with there being the potential for the striker to join Sheffield Wednesday in a cut-price deal.
The striker struggled in La Liga last season for Las Palmas, where he scored just the one goal in 17 league appearances.
He has also applied his trade in the Champions League, where he started six games for FC Midtjylland, playing against the likes of Liverpool, Ajax and Atalanta.
Should Sheffield Wednesday prioritise the signing of Sory Kaba over Ike Ugbo
It could be detrimental to Rohl’s pre-season plans if the pursuit of a striker is to linger on, although options are still sufficient at this moment in time.
It’s clear that the German is keen on bringing Ugbo back to Hillsborough after he made a massive impact last season on his half-a-season spell in S6, where he scored seven goals in 18 appearances.
Kaba also has Championship pedigree, having scored eight goals in 17 appearances for Cardiff City in the latter half of the 2022/23 campaign.
The Guinean is certainly a brilliant option for Sheffield Wednesday to bring in, however Ugbo should be prioritised with there being the clarity that the Canadian international can perform at his best under Rohl.
Ugbo is clearly wanted by Rohl, and the necessary assurance of getting a goalscorer at this level will most likely arrive with getting the Canadian through the doors at Hillsborough.

Chansiri will have one Sheffield Wednesday fear going into 2024/25
Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri may now have one fear going into the 2024/25 season.
Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is slowly winning back the trust and faith of fans after what’s been a very impressive summer transfer window so far.
There’s been positive changes both on and off the pitch this summer with reported improvements to certain facilities at the club, as well as nine new signings for manager Danny Rohl to work with.
In their last pre-season friendly on Friday, Sheffield Wednesday drew 2-2 with Werder Bremen, coming from two goals behind to end their pre-season tour of Austria and Germany on a high.
The 2024/25 Championship season is fast approaching. Sheffield Wednesday host Plymouth Argyle on August 11th in their first game of the new season, kick-starting what many expect to be a much better Championship campaign for the Owls.
But with their potential success next season may come one particular fear for Dejphon Chansiri
