Ipswich Town casting eyes over forward admired by Leeds United, Arsenal
Ipswich Town have brought 17-year-old attacker Mason Cotcher in on trial, a report from the East Anglian Daily Times has said.
Ipswich Town are focused on the promotion fight as it stands with a place in the Premier League still very much up for grabs over the final games of the campaign.
Those in the academy setup can take a bit more of a long-term view. The Tractor Boys will be looking to add some new prospects to their youth ranks, with some bound to join the club while others currently on the books head for pastures new.
This time of year opens the door for trialists to come in and bid to impress and earlier this week, an unnamed trialist was fielded by the U21s.
Said player found the back of the net too in his promising display, and the EADT has now revealed the identity of the prospect.
They report that the Ipswich Town trialist is Mason Cotcher, who left Sunderland last summer. His long spell without a club hasn’t stopped him from catching the eye though.
The 17-year-old spent time on trial at Leeds United and reports said he’d been offered a deal. Cotcher also had a trial at Arsenal, even earning a place in first-team training with Mikel Arteta’s squad.
