Maldini attracts Roma and Atalanta as Milan weigh up options
Daniel Maldini impressed on loan with Monza but his return to Milan could be short-lived as both Roma and Atalanta explore a summer move.
The 22-year-old Italian striker spent the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign out on loan from the Rossoneri, spending the first half-season with Empoli before heading off to the Biancorossi in the January transfer window.
Maldini quickly impressed during his time with Monza, picking up four goals and one assist across 11 matches. Whilst Adriano Galliani’s club are interested in making a definitive move this summer, they’ll have to fight off serious competition from Serie A and abroad.
Maldini future
Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Roma and Atalanta have already contacted Maldini’s agent Beppe Riso to explore a possible transfer this summer. Neither club have contacted Milan yet, but things could change in the coming weeks.
Some clubs from abroad have already registered their interest, but the 22-year-old would prefer to stay in Italy. Riso will have a meeting with Rossoneri directors Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani to discuss their plans for the striker.
Whilst Maldini could end up signing a new contract with Milan, where his current deal expires in 2025, he could also be sold this summer for an offer of around €10m.
