Emphatic Aston Villa transfer stance emerges amid £50m Armando Broja speculation at Villa Park
we’re delighted to welcome Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
There is no chance that Aston Villa are going to make a move to sign Chelsea forward Armando Broja in the January transfer window, according to Dan Bardell.
The Standard reported on its website on 18 January that Villa are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing the Albanian international this month.
It added that the Villans’ interest depends on whether Jhon Duran will leave Villa Park in January, with the 22-year-old Broja valued at about £50million at Stamford Bridge.
Bardell doesn’t believe the club would be prepared to splash that much cash on a reserve striker to play behind the first-choice forward Ollie Watkins.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “There is absolutely no chance. He’s playing for Chelsea at the moment. The asking price is £50million, there’s absolutely no way in the world.
“Villa have only spent £50million on a player once in the club’s history, they’re not going to go and spend £50million on a reserve striker, it’s just not going to happen.
“I don’t even think Broja will move, I think he’ll stay at Chelsea. But that’s absolutely one that isn’t going to happen, there’s more chance of Villa signing me than there is of them signing Broja.
“Even if Duran were to go, there’s no world in which Villa drop that kind of money on Broja.”
