Hull City move ahead of Sunderland and more in transfer chase after tabling bid
Hull City have reportedly tabled a bid for this Sunderland summer transfer target.
Sunderland now have three new signings through the doors at the Stadium of Light this summer, with all three being free transfers, and with all three arriving with prior Championship experience.
Sunderland have signed Ian Poveda this week, beating a number of clubs including Sheffield Wednesday to the signing of the released former Leeds United man.
Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman appears to have a few more irons in the fire too, with Sunderland working on a deal to sign Alexandre Mendy from Caen, albeit running into a few hurdles.
Other names have been linked with moves to Wearside this summer, with Sunderland now eyeing Finnish gem Topi Keskinen who currently plays with HJK in his native Finland.
Another name linked with Regis Le Bris‘ side is Liam Millar, with journalist Michael Graham recently revealing that Sunderland ‘definitely like’ Millar.

Hull City make ‘transfer bid’ for Sunderland target Liam Millar
Hull City are once again throwing some money around in the transfer market after finishing in 7th place of the Championship table last season.
The Tigers then sacked former manger Liam Rosenior who was subsequently linked with Sunderland.
So far this summer, Hull City have signed Ryan Giles and Codey Drameh, and the Tigers have now made a bid for Millar at FC Basel.
The Athletic’s Joshua Kloke has revealed on X that Hull have ‘made a transfer bid’ for Millar, who remains under contract with Basel until next summer.
Will Sunderland go in with a bid for Liam Millar after Hull City update
Sunderland have certainly turned a corner with regards to their transfer recruitment this summer, making a clear shift towards more free signings and to bringing in more players with Championship knowledge.
Millar proved himself in the second tier last season, scoring five and assisting five in 35 Championship outings whilst on loan at Preston.
And links to the likes of Leeds United show just how highly-rated the left-winger is among Championship clubs, with Hull’s bid further credit to that.
But whether or not Sunderland will go in with a bid for a winger when they’re trying to spend money on a striker remains to be seen.
Signing a marquee striker remains the priority for Sunderland and whilst Millar may be a person of interest, Sunderland would surely have only fancied a move if it was a bargain on their end.
Expect Hull to go in with a fair offer having made £40million from player sales already this summer.
