Harrison Burrows transfer state of play amid medical talk for player linked to Coventry City
Coventry City transfer news and gossip from CoventryLive as we look at what is being reported about Peterborugh United’s sought after left-back and skipper who has been linked with the Sky Blues since January
Coventry City’s chances of signing Peterborough United’s Harrison Burrows appear to be fading as speculation linking him to a move to Sheffield United intensifies.
The Sky Blues have been reported to be keen on Posh’s 22-year-old left-back and skipper since Doug King did the £4.25m deal to buy Ephron Mason-Clark in January, at which point his opposite number at the London Road club, Darragh MacAnthony, revealed that City are interested in a number of Peterborough’s players.
In his podcast, The Hard Truth, the out-spoken chairman gave a fascinating insight into the negotiating process between himself and City owner King’s “relentless” pursuit of Mason-Clark. The 47-year-old Irish entrepreneur said: “Doug asked for an option on one of my other players as well, because they like quite a few of our players.”

Another possible target for the Sky Blues is defensive midfielder Hector Kyprianou who was the subject of a rejected bid for his services from another Championship club in January.
Football writer for the Peterborough Telegraph, Alan Swann, said recently: “It’s known Coventry have a ‘first option’ on a Posh player this summer and the smart money is on it being Kyprianou or Burrows.”
United have gone quiet on the subject and declined to comment on this week’s speculation linking Burrows with an imminent move to Championship side Sheffield United.
Swann reported this week that: “A source has told the PT that Burrows was due in Sheffield for a medical at the end of this week, but there has been no confirmation from either club.”
The report adds that Posh would want millions for their player and the situation at Bramall Lane is complicated by an ongoing change of ownership which has restricted their summer transfer business.
Posh chairman and owner MacAnthony was asked by a Sheffield United fan on social media earlier this week about the availability of Burrows and Ronnie Edwards and he replied: ‘One out of two ain’t bad.
