Jacksonville Jaguars Organization Facing NFL Discipline Amid Sexual Assault Scandal

Former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus is facing sexual assault allegations that stemmed from an incident that took place when the team was flying to London during the 2023 season.

According to court documents obtained by ESPN, two flight attendants are suing McManus and the Jaguars organization for the alleged incident.

One part of the incident that could directly affect the Jaguars is the potential that there was alcohol on the team’s flight to London. The NFL strictly prohibits alcohol use on flights, especially after a few incidents that occurred in November of 2022.

Former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing was arrested for a DUI. The timing of the arrest indicated that he was drinking on the team’s flight from Green Bay.

Washington Commanders players suffered NFL discipline for having beer on a team flight from Philadelphia and the league issued a memo saying that future violations of the rule would be met with more intense repercussions.

According to Pro Football Talk, there are witnesses who will say that there was alcohol on the flight. This admission, in a court of law no less, will likely result in disciplinary action from the NFL.

Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus is fighting the allegations of sexual assault

Did we overestimate what Trevor Lawrence could be as an NFL quarterback?

Former Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus is actively denying the allegations that he was the perpetrator of a sexual assault incident that took place on the team’s flight to London.

McManus’ lawyer Brett R. Gallaway explained the way in which he and his client would approach the incident in an article from CNN.

“To be clear, these are absolutely fictitious and demonstrably false allegations made as part of a campaign to defame and disparage a talented and well-respected NFL player,” McManus’ lawyer, Brett R. Gallaway, told CNN. “We intend to aggressively defend Brandon’s rights and integrity and clear his name by showing what these claims truly are – an extortion attempt.”

The Jaguars organization was less forthcoming about their approach towards the same situation. The organization itself, on top of the alcohol issue they could face with the NFL, is being sued by the two flight attendants for “gross negligence” and “failure to create a safe work environment for the flight staff.”

“As we continue to look into the matter, it bears emphasizing that we insist on an organization built by people who represent our community and game with the highest character and class.”

McManus no longer plays for the Jaguars as he is now a member of the Commanders, who also issued a statement on the matter.

“On Monday, we were made aware of the civil lawsuit filed on May 24 against Brandon McManus. We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are looking into the matter. We have been in communication with the League Office and Brandon’s representation, and will reserve further comment at this time,” a spokesperson for the Commanders said.
