Blackburn Rovers To Receive Double Cash Windfall Following £20 Million Deals
Blackburn Rovers could be set for a cash boost ahead of the summer transfer window should two former players make their competitive debuts at EURO 2024, according to the latest reports.
The Lancashire outfit sold two key players to clubs in the Premier League last season, agreeing to allow first-choice goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski to join Luton Town right before the 2023/24 campaign commenced for a reported £2.5 million, bonuses not included. Meanwhile, Adam Wharton moved to Crystal Palace in January for an initial £18 million, with the fee set to rise to £22 million in add-ons.
Both men performed admirably for their respective sides. While Luton were relegated from the top-flight at the first time of asking, the 31-year-old played in every single league game for the Hatters and his displays were good enough to ensure he earned a call-up to the Belgium national team ahead of the European Championship which kicks off this week.
Additionally, Wharton was one of the most impressive midfielders in the Premier League upon arrival from Blackburn Rovers in January. The 20-year-old put in some fine performances, including dominant displays against the likes of Liverpool at Anfield, Manchester United and Newcastle United, booking himself a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
The two ex-Blackburn players have a chance of making their competitive debuts for their countries at EURO 2024 this summer, and the Lancashire Telegraph have reported that Rovers will receive add-on fees, although it doesn’t state the exact cash windfall that the club are due for both former players.
