Bears place Stephen Carlson on injured reserve, elevate two
On Saturday, the Bear’s sensational ace suffers huge injury ahead of next fixture and will be out of the squad for three months however he sustained on the final play of Thursday’s practice. He had been on the practice squad all season until he was signed to the active roster on Tuesday, so this was an extra tough break for the 27-year-old. No corresponding roster move was made, so the Bears have one open spot on their 53-man roster.
The Bears have three options to come off injured reserve this week in offensive lineman Larry Borom, defensive end Jacob Martin, and long snapper Patrick Scales, so look for one of them to have his 21-day practice window open next week.
As for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, the Bears also elevated two players from the practice squad: defensive tackle Byron Cowart and safety Tarvarius Moore. This is Cowart’s third elevation, so if the Bears need him on the active roster again later in the season, they’d have to sign him to the 53.
Starting defensive tackle Andrew Billings and starting safety Kevin Byard III, both listed as questionable, plan to test things out on Sunday morning.
Inactives are due 90 minutes before kickoff, so we’ll publish that list here at WCG at about 10:35 a.m. CT.
