Vincent Kompany sends Nottingham Forest message to Burnley players after Deal was reached
Vincent Kompany has previewed a tense end to the Premier League campaign involving Nottingham Forest and Burnley
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has said his players must purge the final day clash with Nottingham Forest from their minds, and instead view Tottenham Hotspur as their decisive final day fixture.
Forest gave themselves a healthy advantage in the Premier League relegation battle with two matches to go when they defeated Sheffield 3-1 on Saturday. Still, nothing is yet guaranteed as both Luton Town and Burnley can mathematically turn things around.
Their window to do so is shortening, and if the Clarets in particular are to survive then they must beat both an out-of-form, fifth-placed Spurs and Nuno Espirito Santo’s men on matchweek 38.
With his wealth of experience in football, Kompany believes his side must treat that second-to-last fixture in North London as their last-ditch relegation decider before they can even consider the test of Forest.
“I was looking at the Championship, the last day of the season and it was all about that one game, if this team loses then this happens, if that team wins then they can get promoted or that team can stay up,” the Belgian explained. “For us, we have to look at that Spurs game as the final game of the season.
“If the opposition teams lose and we win, what are you going to write then? That’s all it is. If they lose and we win, all of a sudden we have a different discussion before the next game.
“If they win and we win or lose, then at that time it’s over. But we have a final game of the season that is on Saturday. If we get a bonus with a game against Forest, then that’s our final, that’s how we have to look at it.”
As things stand, 19th-placed Burnley sit five points behind their East Midlands rivals. Therefore without any consideration for the outcome of Forest’s points deduction appeal, Kompany and Co. must hope to beat Spurs this coming weekend whilst backing Chelsea to win at the City Ground.
Burnley and Luton lose on Saturday we need a recording of the greatest Forest manager ever to be played in the home dressing room, if a recording of Old Big Head getting former players focused and motivated to get the job done , then nothing will if Nuno wants something to do he could always throw the odd tea cup around or give a clip around the ear to any player who is not paying attention to give a 3D Experience. Kompany and his Luton counterpart will need do everything they can to keep their teams in the top flight , but on Saturday the damage was done and i cannot see them getting out of the drop zone
