Cleveland Browns: Deshaun Watson Silenced The Haters With His Bounce Back Performance On Sunday
It was a long week for the Cleveland Browns, and their starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson, had a rough day a week ago when the Dallas Cowboys came to town and beat them 33-17.
Watson had a horrible day throwing incompletion after incompletion, and on Sunday, he headed to play the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game the Browns had to have.
The Cleveland Browns’ offense and defense both showed up on Sunday. The defense held the Jaguars to only one touchdown and scored a late safety to help seal the game.
The Cleveland Browns And Watson Had A Great Day
The Browns won 18-13, and Watson put together a solid game. He didn’t throw for a touchdown, but he made big plays, avoided sacks, and found his playmakers down the field.
Watson looked a little like his old Houston Texan self on Sunday, and it was an encouraging sign to see after his first 13 starts with the Browns were a little shaky.
The 29-year-old quarterback has yet to play more than six games in a season since 2020, sitting out all of 2021, being suspended for the first 11 in 2022, and only seeing six games last year due to a shoulder injury.
Watson must carry his performance to next week’s game against the New York Giants. The Browns have three straight games against teams who most likely won’t make the playoffs in New York, Las Vegas, and Washington, so this could be a great time for Watson to settle in.
The veteran quarterback still needs more work, but Sunday’s game should be an encouraging sign that he can get back on the right track.

Facing the possibility of going 0-2 to start the season, the Browns traveled to Jacksonville on Sunday hungry for a win.
After an 18-13 victory over the Jaguars, the Browns return to Cleveland with a 1-1 record as they prepare to host the Giants next Sunday.
Here are four players of the game from Cleveland’s first win of the season.
WR Jerry Jeudy
In his first season as a member of the Browns, Jeudy has shown why Cleveland sent 2024 fifth-round and sixth-round picks to Denver for the shifty wide receiver. Jerry was targeted six times, hauling in five receptions for 73 yards on Sunday. Three of his catches resulted in first downs.
“I thought Jerry had some really nice moments down the field, especially made some big plays when we needed it,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said following the win. “I really feel with everybody, there’s room to grow and I really think we can get better.”
Jeudy’s first catch of the game showed his ability to improvise when plays break down.
After running his route, Jeudy noticed QB Deshaun Watson leave the pocket to escape the pass rush. He ran to the sideline where he made an impressive catch on a ball that first hit the hands of CB Ronald Darby, tapping both feet down before going out of bounds to secure the catch.
