TRENDING: Colorado Football QB Shedeur Sanders Perfect Fit For Tennessee Titans According to NFL Insider – 2024 Offseason
Last year, in his first season at the FBS level, Colorado football quarterback Shedeur Sanders shined, throwing for a program-best 3,230 passing yards while posting 27 touchdowns against three picks. After two seasons with the Jackson State Tigers, Sanders transferred to Colorado, formerly of the Pac-12, and has now positioned himself as a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft.
While some pundits believe Sanders is more of a day-two draft pick selection, others have the signal-caller as a clear-cut first-round prospect. One of those analysts, ESPN NFL insider Field Yates, is a staunch supporter of Sanders, holding hope that he can become a franchise passer at the next level. In his first NFL mock draft, Yates has the Tennesee Titans locking in on Sanders early in the first round if fellow passer Will Levis struggles this fall.
Field Yates: Eyes Shedeur Sanders as Franchise Altering Quarterback
On Wednesday, NFL insider Field Yates dropped his first 2025 NFL Mock Draft, featuring a slew of quarterbacks going in the first round. With the fourth pick in his hypothetical draft, the Tennessee Titans opt to make a move for a quarterback, selecting Colorado football star Shedeur Sanders.
Yates points towards Tennessee, likely landing a top-five pick if second-year pro and current starting passer Will Levis struggles during the 2024 season. Additionally, Yates believes Sanders would bring uniqueness to a franchise that has struggled to house elite accuracy over the years.
“Sanders could wind up in the conversation for the first overall pick of the draft, as he’s an absolutely surgical pocket passer. He completed 69.3% of his throws last season and threw just three interceptions. He has great arm strength and pristine accuracy,” said Yates in his 2025 NFL mock draft article.
Tennesse could select Sanders in the early portion of the first round after selecting Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Notably, the Arizona Cardinals followed the mold in the 2018 and 2019 NFL Drafts, selecting quarterback Josh Rosen in the first round before selecting dual-threat signal-caller Kyler Murray with the first overall pick the year after.
Colorado Football QB Shedeur Sanders: Eyeing Stellar 2024 Season
Following a 1-11 season in 2022, the Colorado Buffaloes improved to 4-8 last year, their first under head coach Deion Sanders. The Colorado football team scored 28.2 points per game, led by quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The younger Sanders completed nearly 70% of his passes for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and three picks. He finished the year with a 151.7 quarterback rating.
Before Colorado, Sanders spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Jackson State Tigers of the SWAC. The 22-year-old threw for 6,963 yards, 70 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions during that stretch.
