MLB 2011: Boston Red Sox Are Making Their Fans Sad - WSJMinnesota Twins probable pitchers & starting lineup vs. Chicago White Sox, April 25

The Twins will attempt to pull off their first series sweep of the season on Thursday.

On Thursday afternoon the Minnesota Twins will be attempting the team’s first series sweep of the season.

It’s coming against the 3-21 Chicago White Sox, so take that for what it’s worth, but wins don’t count any less whether they come against good or bad teams. If anything, the Twins badly needed this stretch of baseball to try and get right after a rough start of their own.

This series started with the White Sox less than five games behind the Twins in the AL Central, which is just utterly embarrassing stuff. After three straight wins — also a first for Minnesota this year — the Twins are 10-13 and well on their way to getting back to .500 before the end of the month.MLB 2011: Boston Red Sox Are Making Their Fans Sad - WSJ

For the second time this year, Simeon Woods Richardson (1-0, 1.50 ERA) will be on the mound for the Twins, and here’s to hoping things go as well as the did the first time around.

He made his the second start if his career, but was a total bounce back from what happened both in his last appearance in the majors and his last start in St. Paul. Woods Richardson was beat up last season in a rough outing against the Nationals, allowing five runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings of work. His last start at St. Paul saw him allow seven runs on seven hits and head to the majors with a 7.56 ERA.

Against the Tigers, though, he was brilliant. Woods Richardson picthed six innings and allowed just one run on two hits and looked good despite not getting a ton of help. He logged his win with a -0.30 RA9def which means the defense behind him was below average.

The fact that he still turned in a dominating start is why there’s so much hope and hype that he can keep things going on Thursday. What better team for a tune up against than the White Sox?
