When Man City 2023/24 player contracts are expiring

Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham are eyeing summer swoop for ‘brilliant’ Manchester City player

Tottenham Hotspur now have just over three weeks to get their business finalised in the summer transfer market.

It has been a funny old summer of transfers for Tottenham who have actually been fairly busy, on the whole.

Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy have worked well to clear the decks of the unwanted players in north London.

And Spurs have been able to bring in three signings so far, but there are some caveats with those three additions.

Timo Werner has been retained on another loan and Yang Min-hyeok will not join until January next year after returning to Gangwon FC for the remainder of their season.

This has left Archie Gray as the only new face to begin the season so far but Fabrizio Romano has now shared his insight from Hotspur Way.

Tottenham eyeing Manchester City player this summer

There is still a lot of work to be done this summer in the market for Tottenham if they are going to be fully prepared for the new campaign.

Last season, Postecoglou – albeit having just lost Harry Kane – had an ideal start to life as the Spurs boss considering there was no European football to contend with.

This time around, the Australian is going to need to make sure Spurs perform better in the two domestic cups as well as playing midweek Europa League games.

To do so, Spurs are going to need some further summer recruits to address some of the areas where the squad depth just doesn’t quite cut it.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are showing an interest in the Manchester City right-back Issa Kabore.

“Tottenham would look to fill the gap, for sure, because they have Pedro Porro, but they would need one more player.

“It’s true that Kabore at Manchester City, former Luton Town player, is appreciated by Tottenham,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

“But I’m told he is not the only option. So there are several possibilities being considered.”

Who is Issa Kabore?

The 23-year-old right-back spent the 2023/24 campaign out on loan with Luton Town where he was able to rack up 26 appearances across all competitions.

However, he has since returned to Manchester where he has just one-year remaining on his current deal.

The prospect of playing a part in Pep Guardiola’s side feels extremely slim considering the options which they have available.

His former manager at Luton Rob Edwards hailed him as ‘brilliant‘ last season but Spurs now have serious competition for the backup right-back spot.

Postecoglou has admitted Djed Spence may have just saved his Tottenham career this summer in what has been a sensational pre-season for the right-back.

Considering Kabore has not shown the versatility at playing left-back, it would come as a big shock if Spurs were to replace Spence after such a bright summer.
