Sheffield Wednesday star facing last-minute summer move after latest transfer update

A Sheffield Wednesday player could be set for a late summer move, following this latest transfer update.

Sheffield Wednesday enter what is bound to be a busy August, with the transfer window closing on the 30th.

The Owls have so far signed nine new players this summer. But Danny Rohl‘s side have slowed down somewhat in their transfer activity.

Nathaniel Chalobah was the last player to sign for Sheffield Wednesday, doing so in mid-July, though Wednesday are still being liked with several potential new signings.

Sheffield Wednesday want Ike Ugbo back following his impressive spell on loan from Troyes during the second half of last season.

He scored seven in 18 Championship outings to help fire the Owls to safety.

Since, Sheffield Wednesday have seen a bid for Ugbo rejected, whilst Ugbo’s parent club Troyes have been reinstated to Ligue 2 following the demotion of bankrupt Bordeaux.

But journalist Joe Crann has tipped Sheffield Wednesday to sign Ugbo this summer, one way or another, and that could spell a summer loan for his former Owls strike partner.

Owls youngster Bailey Cadamarteri burst onto the scene last season, eventually going on to score four goals in 23 Championship outings for Wednesday.

His role under Rohl became a back-up one as the season went on. But he’s still held in high regards at Hillsborough, with Cadamarteri having signed a long-term contract with Sheffield Wednesday last season.

Rohl recently spoke out on Cadamarteri’s future in S6, failing to rule out a possible loan exit for the 19-year-old.

And should Ugbo eventually re-sign this summer then it may be the case that a loan exit is ideal for Cadamarteri.

Bailey Cadamarteri must do one thing at Sheffield Wednesday this summer

It seems as though Cadamarteri’s season ahead is uncertain, and that it’s somewhat out of his hands.

He’s looked sharp in pre-season though and with experience under his belt, he’ll surely be confident of making more progress again next season.

The decision to loan him out will be Rohl’s though, and it could be heavily influenced by the possible arrival of Ugbo, which Crann believes will get done later in the summer.

All that Cadamarteri can do is work hard in training and be ready and match fit to play for whoever it is when the season gets going.

He looks set to start the season with Sheffield Wednesday. But he could well be playing out on loan for another club come September; either way, all he can do is be ready to hit the ground running.
