When discussing the best players from down under to make an impact, Lineker couldn’t look any further than Tim Cahill.

“I don’t know, I think I might go, Tim Cahill, because he was here quite a while; he was a consistently good goalscorer, really good player,” he said.

Cahill was undoubtedly capable of a spectacular striker, but his industrious work and physicality endeared him to the Goodison Park faithful.

Cahill is now the technical director of the Qatar Football Association and was heavily involved in the 2022 World Cup.

Nevertheless, the former Everton striker still has a soft spot for the Toffees and has weighed in on the club’s current wranglings with the Premier League.

“The decision for Everton has set the bar for the Premier League and football,” Cahill wrote on X.
