THE BIGGER PICTURE
Ex-City youth player Josh Adam is currently training with the Red Dragons in recent weeks. The Scotland youth international left the Premier League champions at the end of last season and Parkinson appears to have been impressed by him.
WHAT PARKINSON SAID
The Welsh team’s manager told The Athletic reporter Richard Sutcliffe: “We’ve had young Josh Adam in on trial from Manchester City. He’s a player we’d like to keep. He has real talent.”
WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
Wrexham went top of League One thanks to their 3-0 win against Shrewsbury on Saturday. They will hope to have a deal with Adam wrapped up soon as they prepare for their EFL Trophy game against Salford on Tuesday.

Wrexham on verge of signing ‘real talent’ from Man City in transfer boost
Wrexham have handed a trial to former Manchester City midfielder Josh Adam, who has been without a club since leaving the Etihad Stadium in 2024 following the expiration of his contract
Wrexham, with their eyes firmly set on climbing up the leagues, are scouring the globe for top-notch talent. The club, which boasts Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as owners, has shown interest in Scottish prodigy Josh Adam, formerly of Manchester City.
Phil Parkinson, the boss at Wrexham, has let slip to the press that they’ve had the 20-year-old sensation in for a trial – and they are now looking to sign him permanently.
Adam has been turning heads at Manchester City’s academy, showcasing his sk
ills across various youth squads, including the Under-18s and Under-21s. His football journey began at Celtic before he made the switch to Man City, where he was instrumental in their consecutive title-winning campaigns in Premier League 2 during the 2021-22 seasons.
With 38 youth matches under his belt, along with six goals and an assist, Adam has made quite the impression. In May 2024, Manchester City confirmed Adam’s departure upon his contract’s end, a move first revealed by his father in a heartfelt social media post:
“Good luck today, son, in your last game for Man City,” he penned. “Been a quick four years.”
