Chris Sutton names the Tottenham ‘animal’ he’d hate to play against

Tottenham Hotspur are certainly heading towards the upcoming international break in much better mood after dismantling Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ange Postecoglou does still have two fairly tricky ties for Tottenham to navigate beforehand, an away trip to face Ferencvaros on Thursday before visiting Brighton on the weekend.

Were Spurs able to secure two more wins, making it six on the bounce in all competitions, their lacklustre start would be all but remedied.

There’s no doubt that Spurs’ return to form has been helped by Brennan Johnson, who seems determined to prove a point.

Johnson deleted his social media after receiving abuse for his performances last month, a player who now seems to be in a much better space.

Chris Sutton seriously impressed by Cristian Romero at Tottenham

Speaking on the BBC’s ‘Monday Night Club’, Chris Sutton took a moment to talk about a different Spurs player after their 3-0 win on Sunday, Cristian Romero.

Romero kept a clean sheet alongside Micky van de Ven, who also provided an incredible assist for Johnson’s opener.

Romero himself almost scored a spectacular volley, one that demonstrated all of his attacking flair that exists in addition to his defending.

But when speaking on the podcast, it was Romero’s robust defending that Sutton was most impressed with, saying he was an ‘animal’ he’d hate to play against.

Sutton said: “I mean, you wouldn’t want to go up against Romero. He is super aggressive, isn’t he?

“He is an animal at times, the way that he uses his body and attacks the ball. I think he is phenomenal.”

Dominic Solanke also deserves credit at Spurs

In similar fashion to Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke was being incredibly harshly written off after just 180 minutes in a Tottenham shirt.

Solanke couldn’t move for talk of his ‘goal drought’ or ‘barren run’, despite the fact that his time in N17 was only just beginning.

However, the Englishman showed his poacher instincts at Old Trafford, scoring Spurs’ third goal.

James Maddison was delighted with Solanke – even if he did also give him one little tip for improvement.

A much more positive period for Spurs, who need two more big performances before the break.
