JUST IN: Hull City has a top-tier veteran ace ready to step in for the matches against Leeds United and Stoke City.

Opinion: Hull City have ready-made Jacob Greaves replacement for Stoke City and Leeds United clashes

Hull City will be without key defender Jacob Greaves for their upcoming Easter games against Stoke City and Leeds United.

Hull City are on the brink of the Championship play-offs and are three points behind Norwich City in 6th with a game in-hand.

Greaves has picked up a suspension following the accumulation of too many yellow cards.

However, the Tigers have a ready-made replacement in the form of Sean McLoughlin and the Irishman will be keen to make a positive impression.

Hull City man ready to stamp his mark

Greaves’ absence is an opportunity for McLoughlin to show what he is all about again.

The former Cork City man has had to bide his time for opportunities over recent times.

McLoughlin got some minutes under his belt last week against the Curacao national team in a friendly over in Turkey for the Tigers during their training camp so will be fresh and ready to play.

The ex-Republic of Ireland youth international has been on the books at the MKM Stadium since 2019 and is one of the club’s longest serving players now.

He has made 105 appearances in all competitions for the East Yorkshire outfit, 24 of which have come this season.

McLoughlin penned a new three-year deal last year running until 2026 meaning that if Greaves was to be sold for a big-money fee in the future, Hull have someone ready to step in.

The Tigers have drawn too many games recently and need to beat Stoke on Friday to keep their push for the top six on track.

They then face a tricky test away at table toppers Leeds but will be confident heading to Elland Road having won at both Leicester City and Southampton this term.

Rosenior’s men also drew 0-0 with the Whites earlier in this campaign and should arguably have won with Adama Traore missing a sitter in the second-half.
