Robins is currently under contract with the Sky Blues until the summer of 2027, after signing a four-year deal in 2023, and guided the club to the 2024 FA Cup semi-final, where they were defeated on penalties by Manchester United.

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali revealed in an interview with BBC Radio Humberside that he dismissed Rosenior after the pair had a disagreement over the side’s playing style.

The club came to the shock decision to part ways with Liam Rosenior earlier this week, despite taking the Tigers from the lower reaches of the table to the brink of the play-offs in his first full campaign at the helm.

However, as they just fell short of the top six on the final day, the club decided to part ways with the manager. It has since emerged that the style of play was the Humberside outfit’s main motivation behind the decision.

Plenty of names have been linked with the newly-vacant post at the MKM Stadium, and a new target has now emerged.

As per a report from Football Insider, Hull City are plotting a move for Coventry City boss Mark Robins. The 54-year-old is on the shortlist of potential Rosenior replacements and contact is set to be made, it is said.

An ambitious move?

Robins is over seven years into his second stint as Coventry City manager. He’s led them back from League Two all the way up to the Championship and took them to the brink of promotion in the play-off final last season.

He’s regularly lauded for his work with the Sky Blues, and rightly so.

Coventry find themselves in a similar position to Hull City though. They’re a play-off chasing side who hold Premier League ambitions, and Robins is absolutely central to the future plans at the CBS Arena.

Losing him to a rival side fighting for the same goal will not be in the plans of the Sky Blues. It makes this rumoured interest highly ambitious and despite the temptation of the project at the MKM Stadium, it might be very tricky tempting Robins away from his current post.
