Raiders News: The veteran messages to Davante Adams After making a sensational Return To Packers but unfortunately
The Las Vegas Raiders will have a new look and feel to it in 2024 as the team made some notable additions in free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft.
The offense should run through Davante Adams as the Raiders’ clear-cut best option in the passing game, but the run game will look entirely different as Josh Jacobs is no longer on the roster. After spending almost all of last year in contract disputes with Las Vegas, Jacobs got the deal he was looking for in free agency as he signed a four-year contract with the Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay was a viable landing spot for Jacobs after the team allowed Aaron Jones to walk in free agency to the Minnesota Vikings, setting up the former All-Pro running back to lead the backfield. With ascending quarterback Jordan Love manning the controls, Jacobs could be in line for another productive season.
Jacobs is getting his feet under him during OTAs but revealed that he texted Adams about potentially returning to the Packers via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic
Josh Jacobs: “The receiving corps is crazy, man. I’m so excited just watching them. Any one of them can go at any moment.”
Also Jacobs on Davante Adams: “When I came out here … I sent him the little eyes emoji. I said, ‘You thinking about coming back?’ But man, he loved it.”
It sounded like Jacobs was reaching out to Adams in jest considering that the latter wanted out of Green Bay after a couple of frustrating seasons. By all accounts, Adams is committed to playing in Las Vegas and has given no indications that he would return to his former team.
Adams back on the Packers is a fun thought given the young talent on both sides of the football, but he’s got more of an opportunity to make an impact on the Raiders. Despite him getting up there in age, Adams is still one of the premier wideouts in the league and should be in line for a bounce-back year.
Davante Adams believes Raiders organization is more competitive than Packers
Despite the lack of winning since coming to Las Vegas, Adams has enjoyed his time with the franchise and being back on the West Coast. As far as what it’s like playing for the Raiders versus the Packers, he noted that the former is a more competitive organization.
