Brighton: Seagulls struck gold on £2.7m signing now worth 751% more

£3m player set for medical at Hull City after links with Leeds United was hijacked but however…

Hull City travel to Leeds United in the fourth game of the season and it looks as though they will have one of Daniel Farke’s targets in their ranks.

It has been a summer of wholesale changes at the Tigers after their failure to finish in the top six, and it looks as though they will be in for a busy few weeks in the market before the trip to Elland Road.

City have sold key players such as Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves, while loanees including Fabio Carvalho, Anass Zaroury, Tyler Morton and Liam Delap have also departed.

The addition of Cody Drameh on a free transfer following his release from Leeds is one piece of business they have completed, but the XI new manager Tim Walter names against the Whites later this month will be a lot different to the one Liam Rosenior had in April.

However, it does appear as though they are starting to make some progress on the incomings front, pipping Leeds to one of their targets in the process.

Both clubs are currently on the lookout for reinforcements out wide, with Leeds’ need having been heightened since the exit of Crysencio Summerville.

Leeds are going to need a real top-class addition to replace the output left behind by Summerville, with Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe seemingly the top target.

Daniel Farke and the rest of Leeds’ recruitment team have been preparing for this eventuality for several weeks now and one player who was linked earlier in the summer was Liam Millar.

After impressing during a loan spell at Preston North End, Leeds actually watched Millar in action for Canada at the Copa America, but their hopes of signing him are now over according to Matthew Scianitti.

Scianitti has claimed Millar is set to undergo a medical with Hull City after a fee in the region of £3 million was agreed with FC Basel.

Millar is set to sign a three-year-deal with the option of another in East Yorkshire, putting any lingering hopes of a move to Leeds over.

Millar is one of numerous wingers to have been linked with a move to Elland Road, but it has become very clear that Rowe is the one they want.

Leeds had also been in the race for Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, though Sheffield United is set to become his destination for the season on loan.

In terms of the latest on Rowe, there hasn’t been much of an update since Monday. Having said that, Pink Un journalist Connor Southwell has suggested there could be movement before Saturday.

Leeds’ initial offer was somewhere in the region of £7 million but that figure is likely to have to reach £15 million for Norwich to entertain a sale.
