Leeds United: Ben Johnson arrival paves way for Cody Drameh exit

Leeds United Star Player ready to leave the Whites side, as Crystal Palace also keen on signing him

Leeds United target Ben Johnson is ‘ready to snub’ West Ham’s offer of a new contract this summer, as reported by the Sunday People (via GlasgowWorld).
Leeds United are among a host of clubs interested in signing the defender on a free transfer ahead of next season. The full-back’s deal expires at the end of next month and he is yet to pen an extension meaning he will become a free agent as things stand.

Johnson, 24, has been offered fresh terms by West Ham as they look to tie him down on a long-term basis. However, he is mulling over his future and may well head out the exit door now in search of a new challenge.

In this latest update regarding his future by the Sunday People (via GlasgowWorld), the player could turn down the chance to stay at the London Stadium amid interest from the Whites, Rangers, Wolves and Crystal Palace. Some unnamed Championship sides are also apparently in the frame for his signature.

Leeds United could see Johnson as someone to bolster their defensive department ahead of the next campaign, regardless of what league they are in.

The full-back is versatile and can play in a couple of different positions across the backline, mainly right-back and left-back, which would make him a useful player to have in and around the squad for the Whites.

He has been on the books at West Ham for his whole career to date and has risen up through their various different youth ranks.

Johnson was handed his senior debut back in February 2019 in a league clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

He has since made 109 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with a couple of goals from the back.

His game time has dried up a bit this term under David Moyes and he has been limited to just 22 outings, a lot of which have been off the bench.

The ex-England youth international could now fancy a fresh start away from the Hammers, despite the fact that Moyes is actually leaving when this season comes to an end.

Cody Drameh makes Cardiff City loan move - Leeds United

Leeds United will no doubt be keeping one eye on the summer and their recruitment plan.

However, their immediate focus will be on gaining promotion to the top flight though and they have their play-off semi-final second leg coming up on Thursday night against Norwich City at Elland Road.

They drew 0-0 in the first leg at Carrow Road against the Canaries and it is all to play for.

The Whites would need to see off competition from elsewhere if they were to land Johnson with the likes of Rangers, Wolves and Crystal Palace mentioned as suitors.
