Leeds United’s chances of landing Joe Rodon on a second transfer agreement this summer have been dealt another blow with Southampton joining Ipswich Town in the race.

The conclusion of several loan deals and the aftermath to that has been the key topic of conversation so far as the transfer window gets underway for Leeds and Daniel Farke.

To get out of the Championship by adding top quality to the side, the loan market is vital, and that proved beneficial through Joe Rodon’s arrival, but the club now face trouble in trying to keep him at Elland Road long-term.

Southampton join race to sign Leeds United favourite Joe Rodon

TEAMtalk are reporting this week that Leeds’ hopes of signing Rodon again either on a permanent deal or loan have been dealt a significant blow due to emerging Premier League interest.

Southampton are the latest side to be cited with interest in signing the Welsh international this summer, having inflicted defeat on Leeds in the Championship playoff final at the end of May.

The Saints have already triggered one major transfer deal in defence with the automatic buy clause sealed for Taylor Harwood-Bellis to join from Manchester City for £20million.

Rodon is said to command an asking price between £12-15million, seeing Tottenham make a decent return on the player they spent £15million on back in 2020.

Ipswich Town also in the running for Rodon

Alongside the Saints, fellow promoted side Ipswich Town are admirers of Rodon after his stellar Elland Road loan stint.

That’s according to Tottenham-based Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold, who revealed that Tractor Boys boss Kieran McKenna is a big fan of Rodon.
