BREAKING: San Francisco 49ers Sign Former Miami Dolphins WR With 30 TDs Amid Brandon Aiyuk Situation
The San Francisco 49ers are signing a former Miami Dolphins wide receiver amid their situation with Brandon Aiyuk. The 49ers are not close to agreeing to a long-term deal with Aiyuk, and the Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be the team closing in on a potential trade.
Brandon Aiyuk could be gone soon
That is if the Las Vegas Raiders don’t trade for Aiyuk first. Aiyuk’s agent, Ryan Williams, was at the Raiders practice on Wednesday. There is a possibility the 49ers could swap picks and Aiyuk for star receiver Davante Adams.
The 49ers appear to be getting their roster prepared for trading Aiyuk. The 49ers would prefer to trade Aiyuk to a team that could send a veteran receiver in return. However, the Steelers don’t have that luxury because of their lack of depth at position, and the 49ers signing on Thursday could help Brock Purdy if they’re unable to trade for a veteran pass catcher.

Pet Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, the 49ers are signing Robbie “Chosen” Anderson:So with Brandon Aiyuk’s future still in flux and injuries hitting the position, including first-round pick Ricky Pearsall, the #49ers add Anderson, who has 379 career catches and 30 touchdowns.
The 49ers and Dolphins swapped receivers in free agency
The New York Jets signed Anderson as an undrafted rookie in 2016. He’s spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals. He played for the 49ers last season.
The Dolphins recently signed former 49ers receiver Willie Snead IV, so the Dolphins and 49ers appear to be arranging their deck chairs at receiver before the 2024 regular season.

Justin Simmons may not be a free agent for long and that means if Chris Grier has any inclination to add the safety, he may want to do it now. Simmons took a visit to meet with the New Orleans Saints, but the Miami Dolphins could use him.
Grier has been frugal with most of his free agent spending and has made many contract moves with his in-house players, but make no mistake: Simmons would make the Dolphins’ secondary better. Jordan Poyer has missed recent practices and only Jevon Holland is consistently healthy, and even that is a stretch after last season. Miami needs players they can rely on, and Marcus Maye, signed this summer, is not the better option.
Justin Simmons visiting the Saints is bad news for Dolphins fans
Miami’s secondary isn’t very deep. They have several rookies and the players previously mentioned. Simmons would make the roster better and allow Anthony Weaver to use a three-high look in his secondary.
