Browns roster: Waive recently acquired OL due to failed physical
Steelers waived Kellen Diesch without the failed physical designation
The roster churn for the Cleveland Browns continues despite nothing happening on the field. On Tuesday, GM Andrew Berry claimed offensive tackle Kellen Diesch off of waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers and signed wide receiver Jalen Camp. To make room, the Browns waived kicker Lucas Havrisik.
Diesch went undrafted in 2022 and has bounced around to a few practice squads after playing at Texas A&M and Arizona State in college. The 6’7” tackle showed athletic traits but his 300-pound frame didn’t produce enough strength at that height to be drafted.
Just days after being claimed, Diesch was waived by Cleveland on Thursday with a failed physical designation
It is interesting to note that when the Pittsburgh Steelers waived Diesch on Monday, after the completion of their rookie minicamp, it was not done with an injury designation. It is possible the Steelers were not aware of any kind of medical concern before waiving him or the Browns found something undetected by Diesch’s previous team.
Berry now has an open roster spot to work with as the offseason rolls on.
