Red Sox vs. Yankees: la rivalidad se revive en la postemporada de la MLB

Ex-Yankees Slugger Floated As Option For Red Sox In Free Agency After Strong Year

Could the Red Sox actually land the former Yankees All-Star this offseason?

The Boston Red Sox still have holes across the roster that need to be filled this offseason.

It’s unclear how the club will do so because it sounds like the Red Sox don’t want to spend, but there still are some very intriguing players available who could help. The biggest holes on the roster still are in the rotation, but Boston could use another catcher to help at the big league level.

One player who has been mentioned as a fit for the Red Sox is former New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres slugger Gary Sánchez, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.

Given his success working with (Blake Snell) last year, Sánchez could be monitoring his former teammate’s situation, hoping that Snell’s new club might be open to adding his personal catcher, too.”

Sánchez used to just be known for his bat but he has come a long way. He clubbed 19 home runs in just 72 games with San Diego last season but took a step forward defensively, as well.

The 31-year-old developed into Snell’s personal catcher and that ended up going well as he won the 2023 National League Cy Young Award after leading the league with a 2.25 ERA.

Boston has been linked to Snell on multiple occasions this offseason. Maybe the club could surprise and go big and land the two-time Cy Young Award winner as well as his catcher.
