Coventry City midfielder Marco Rus signed a new two-year deal with the club last summer but has now joined the Scottish Championship side Ayr United

Coventry City have completed the transfer of midfielder Marco Rus to Scottish Championship club Ayr United.

The 21-year-old Sky Blues development player moves north of the border for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

Rus joined City from Southampton in July 2021 and was part of the Under 21s group that won the Professional Development League title in May 2022, scoring in the final win over Bristol City.

In 2022/23 Marco was an influential member of the Sky Blues Under-21s group who made it to the Birmingham Senior Cup final, wearing the captain’s armband on multiple occasions.

He’s had spells on loan at Chorley FC and also his home town FC Universitatea Cluj in Romania towards the second half of last season, as well as featuring on the bench for Sky Blues first team matches in recent campaigns.

The club said: “Everyone at Coventry City would like to wish Marco the best of luck for the future.”
