Hull City close in on loan deal for Luton wing-back Ryan Giles with £4.25m obligation to buy… with Championship club ready to offer him more regular game time

Luton Town wing-back Ryan Giles is in talks over a move to Hull City.

The ambitious Championship side are discussing a loan with obligation to buy at £4.25million for the former England U20 international.

Giles, who joined Luton from Wolves in the summer for around £5million, has made 14 appearances for the Premier League newcomers this season but Hull are ready to offer him more regular starting opportunities.

His departure will also give Luton leeway as they look to make a couple of late additions before the window closes.

Giles had a strong season on loan at Middlesbrough last year and Liam Rosenior hopes he can have a similar impact at Hull as they push for promotion.

The Ivorians suffered their biggest-ever home defeat against one of the tournament’s minnows

Influential Hull City star Jean Michael Seri could be facing an early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations in his native Ivory Coast after the host nation were thrashed 4-0 by Equatorial Guinea on Monday night in what has been described as the greatest upset ever seen in the finals.

Seri, who has yet to play a single minute in the three group games, watched on from the bench as the tiny country on the west coast of Central Africa caused one of the biggest shocks in the competition’s history at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, thumping the star-studded hosts.

Emilio Nsue had Equatorial Guinea a goal up at the break before Pablo Ganet curled in a delicious free-kick to make it 2-0 and then Nsue netted his second to make it three. Jannick Buyla scuffed in a fourth, by which point many inside the arena had already headed for the exits.
