Mendez-Laing, Blackett-Taylor, Washington – Derby County injury latest ahead of Shrewsbury
Latest Derby County news from Derbyshire Live brings you news from the treatment table as the Rams build up to facing the Shrews this weekend
Derby County are back at Pride Park this weekend when they tackle struggling Shrewsbury in League One.
Buoyed by a 1-0 win over Charlton at the weekend, which took them up to second in the table, victory at the Valley was their 10th away victory on the road this season.
The Rams will now look to follow that up with another three points against the Shrews who beat Derby 1-0 earlier in the campaign. Paul Warne’s side do have some injury concerns ahead of the game and here’s the latest from the treatment table.
The new signing missed the trip to his former club Charlton at the weekend which sparked a few conspiracy theories, but the truth is that Blackett-Taylor picked up a slight adductor injury at the start of last week in training. He is now battling to be fit for this weekend’s visit of the Shrews.
The winger limped out of Saturday’s game against Charlton after scoring what proved to be the winner at the Valley. A challenge that preceded his goal left him with a nasty gash that made him unable to continue. Head coach Paul Warne said a stud had gone through the winger’s boot and he will be assessed this week to see how he is. Left the game at the Valley wearing a protective boot.
Tyreece John-Jules
The on-loan Arsenal forward looks set for a spell on the sidelines, although how long for is yet to be determined. The striker was due to undergo a scan after coming off late on in the defeat at Reading with a hamstring problem. Likely to be out for a significant period of time.
Craig Forsyth
The long-serving defender is expected to be back towards the end of this month having picked up a calf injury before the win over Fleetwood. He has since been for a scan, and the damage has been assessed as “quite severe” according to Warne, but he is getting closer to a return.
Martyn Waghorn
The striker has been nursing a calf injury and had been due to return earlier this month, but he has suffered a setback during rehab. The forward is likely to return later this month.
