Can Scherzer end the Rangers losing streak against the Orioles.
The Texas Rangers will look to break their four-game losing streak with an ideal pitcher on the mound Friday night against the Baltimore Orioles.
Max Scherzer returns to action, and the Rangers are counting on his vintage performance.
Texas Rangers
Max Scherzer is set to take the mound for the Rangers in this game, and he made a stellar comeback in true Scherzer fashion.
Scherzer pitched five scoreless innings against the Royals in his first start back from injury.
Bruce Bochy limited him to 57 pitches, so he might have gone the full nine innings if he had been at full health. While Scherzer may throw less pitches in this game, he should deliver another strong performance.
His pitches are sharp, and if he can maintain that form, the Rangers will likely win.
Offensively, the Rangers are disciplined at the plate, ranking ninth in both lowest whiff and chase percentages and ninth-highest swing percentage.
They are aggressive yet selective with their swings, and if they maintain this approach, they should be able to produce offensively and secure a victory.
Baltimore Orioles
Suarez is having a solid season, although he was slightly more effective out of the bullpen. However, he has excelled at home.
In his last two home starts, Suarez has pitched 10.1 innings, allowing eight hits and one run and striking out nine.
Suarez needs to continue this trend in the upcoming game. While the Rangers are disciplined at the plate, they don’t hit for a high average.
Suarez should be able to induce a lot of weak contact, and if he does, the Orioles have a good chance of winning.
The Orioles boast one of the top offenses in MLB. They rank sixth in batting average, first in slugging, first in home runs, and first in hard-hit percentage.
This team consistently makes powerful contact. Baltimore needs to replicate this offensive strength in the game.
If they can get to Scherzer and put some runs on the board, they can come out on top.
Rangers-Orioles Bet
This will be a great game, but the Orioles will likely win this one late. Scherzer only pitches six innings or less, and the thought of the Orioles lineup teeing off on the Rangers bullpen has me hesitant to believe their losing streak ends tonight.
