Cleveland Browns News 3/28: Trade and Contract Buzz, Weird Kickoffs, and Busy Lobbyists
Some low-level contract and trade buzz manages to keep our OBR Daily Newswire busy on yet another weekday morning, as our webdork arranges some links and fries up some bacon. We’re open seven days a week.
Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!
Of all the good mornings here on the OBR Newswire, Thursday morning is one of my favorites. The day is frequently clear of meetings, and it’s the morning after I get a chance to just talk football for an hour with my pal Fred Greetham, who knows a thing or two about the subject, on OBR Weekly. Having the ability to work with a guy like Fred for a couple of decades is a privilege.
My life is consumed by a lot of back-office administration, helping fans around the site, and occasional dipping in and out of the flow of news as it heads the front page, so it’s fun for me to just talk football for an hour with Fred and the fans who ask questions or make comments as the show goes on.
If I had a dream, it would be to be able to hire someone to take care of all “the business stuff” so I could just hang out and talk with Browns fans all day about football and other subjects on the forums and elsewhere. That was sort of the original dream. Alas, that’s not in the short-term vision, so I’ll have to take my chances where I can get them. And one of them is here, first thing in the morning, on the Daily Newswire, where I’m allowed to bloviate my opinions on various Browns news items before burrowing into the day’s to-do list.
Thanks for reading it. Yesterday was our biggest day in terms of “engaged minutes” with the Newswire in memory. Unfortunately, we don’t have as much news to discuss today, but we’ll make do with what we have.
The Browns were among a laundry list of teams to take in impressive workouts from Welsh rugby start Louis Rees-Zammit in recent weeks, and the player has made his choice: He’s headed to the Kansas City Chiefs. One assumes the recent kickoff rule change (more on that below) provided him with a list of interested buyers as kick returners able to weave through traffic suddenly got more valuable as the XFL kick-off was adopted.
