Wolves could make another transfer deadline day U-turn after Daniel Podence

Three Wolves players who could still leave after transfer deadline day

Despite the English transfer window slamming shut on Friday night, there are still plenty of Wolves players who could depart.

Gary O’Neil managed to oversee a somewhat successful transfer window in the end thanks to a chaotic deadline day.

Wolves brought in three major signings to bolster their squad on Friday to try and rectify their poor start to the Premier League season.

However, despite the fact that the Old Gold cannot sign any more players, departures are still possible.

There are multiple transfer windows still open such as Saudi Arabia, which closes on Monday, and Turkey, which closes in mid-September.

In this article, Molineux News highlights three players who could still depart Wolves in the coming weeks.

Wolves’ number one is no doubt going to face stern competition this season to keep his spot in the first team.

With Sam Johnstone signing for Wolves on deadline day, there is a risk that Jose Sa may not be the number one choice any longer.

This is compounded by the fact that Sa has made numerous mistakes in the opening two games of the Premier League season, costing O’Neil’s side points.

Given these facts, Wolves may be open to selling the goalkeeper.

Sa was linked to Saudi Arabia in early 2024, however, nothing materialised. Yet, with circumstances now changing, all parties may be more open to a move.

Daniel Podence

Perhaps an inevitable departure before the Saudi window closes, Daniel Podence looks certain to leave the club.

The winger’s future caused widespread speculation throughout the summer with Olympiacos wanting to see him return to the Greek side on a permanent deal.

However, various reports suggested that on deadline day, Wolves had accepted a £5 million bid from Al-Shabab FC for Podence.

With Carlos Forbs now also signing for Wolves, Podence’s departure will likely be announced in the coming days.

Pablo Sarabia

Pablo Sarabia has an outside chance of leaving the club. The winger did not start in Wolves’ first two Premier League matches and is now in the final year of his contract.

This combined with the arrival of Forbs means that the Dutchman alongside, Rodrigo Gomes, Hwang Hee-Chan and Matheus Cunha are all ahead of the Spaniard in this position.

As a result, Wolves may look to cash in. Sarabia was linked to Turkey earlier in the summer, with the nation’s transfer window not closing until September 13.

This could give multiple clubs plenty of time to purchase Sarabia which Wolves may now be open to.
