Jobe Bellingham contract detail emerges at Sunderland amid Crystal Palace and Brentford interest

An important detail in Jobe Bellingham’s contract at Sunderland has emerged.

Jobe Bellingham joined Sunderland for an initial £1.5 million last summer and has gone onto become an important figure in the senior squad.

The midfielder netted seven goals in 45 appearances for the Black Cats, proving to be one of Sunderland’s better players, but still coming under some criticism for his performances.

Despite a turbulent campaign at the Stadium of Light, Bellingham has continued to attract interest from across Europe.

Crystal Palace now appear to be the latest club to throw their name into the hat and are reportedly already ‘in talks’ over a potential move to Selhurst Park.

Sunderland fans will be left concerned given the success that Palace have had at bringing up players from the EFL.

The Eagles have developed the likes of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Adam Wharton in recent years, and could be a real tempting move for Bellingham.

Jobe Bellingham contract detail revealed

It is unclear how easy it would be to lure the teenager away from Wearside, though a contract detail has emerged that could give Sunderland the upper-hand.

The length of Bellingham’s contract was not disclosed when he arrived at the club last summer, however the Sunderland Echo have now reported that it still has three years remaining.

The report also claims that the Black Cats are under ‘no financial pressure’ to sell their assets this summer, and any interested party will have to offer a lot of money for them to consider parting ways with Bellingham.

The youngster has had an up-and-down season in Sunderland, while the coaching staff have come under criticism for playing him too much.

However, at only 18, he’s clearly one of the most promising players at the Academy of Light.

Jobe is too raw for Premier League football

While the Black Cats could well be in for another underwhelming season, it does feel like it could be a much better year for Jobe.

The midfielder desperately needs another season or two playing regular football in the Championship before he makes such a leap to the top flight.

He is still very raw and certainly isn’t good enough to be playing regular Premier League football in a few months.

If he is smart then he will stay at Sunderland, but any young footballer would be tempted by the idea, especially given his brother’s success in going from the Championship to the Champions League.
