The San Francisco 49ers are set to once again have arguably the NFL’s most talented roster for the 2024 season, and yet again, they will attempt to make good on their “quest for six.”

But they do have some big financial decisions to make in the months to come.

Star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is looking to get a big contract extension as he heads into the final year of his current deal, and starting next offseason, it will be time for the 49ers to pay quarterback Brock Purdy.

LeSean McCoy said on FS1’s “Speak” that Purdy deserves to be paid top dollar by San Francisco.

Purdy has become a huge Cinderella story ever since he was the last player taken in the 2022 NFL Draft.

He took over under center in Week 13 that season after he began the year third on the team’s depth chart, and in 2023, he proved that he’s, at worst, one of the league’s top-10 QBs.

On the season, he threw for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns while leading everyone in passer rating, QBR, and yards per pass attempt.

He took the Niners all the way to the Super Bowl last season, and while he didn’t play very well there against the Kansas City Chiefs, he played well enough to give them a real shot at winning.

At age 24, Purdy can only get better as time goes on, and perhaps at this time next year, he’ll be enjoying the fruits of leading the 49ers to a Super Bowl win.
