3 Packers players who could be benched in Week 2 against Colts
Despite the fact that it’s early in the season, there is still a lot at stake for the Green Bay Packers heading into their Week 2 matchup and home opener against the Indianapolis Colts. The Packers lost a tough game in Brazil last week against the Philadelphia Eagles and are dealing with an injury to their most valuable player — Jordan Love.
Given the fact that tensions are already going to be running high, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur might not have any patience for players who aren’t playing up to their starter status, especially after some struggles in Week 1 against the Eagles.
Which players could potentially be benched in Week 2 if they don’t show up in a big way?

1. Josh Myers, C
Josh Myers struggled against the Philadelphia Eagles. If the Packers are going to do some reshuffling after or even during this game against the Indianapolis Colts, I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of the most notable moves were on the offensive line.
The Packers have been searching this offseason for how to get the best five possible on the field at the same time, and I don’t think they’ve arrived at that solution, by any means. A 17-game season is a long time, and the Packers do have some flexibility with Jordan Love being injured to potentially make some wholesale changes on the offensive line if they don’t like what they are seeing.
If Myers is going to be benched, it could indirectly pave the way for Jordan Morgan to get on the field. Elgton Jenkins could take over at center with Sean Rhyan moving to left guard and Jordan Morgan sliding into the starting right guard position.
Myers was actually hurt on the same play as Love, and that was the alignment the Packers went with. Perhaps that was their ideal look up front to begin with.
2. Sean Rhyan, RG
If Myers doesn’t do enough to get himself benched, perhaps Sean Rhyan will.
Rhyan won the starting right guard job after training camp and preseason play despite the Packers’ first-round investment in Jordan Morgan. Benching Rhyan would pave the way for Morgan to get in the mix and might be the Packers’ “easiest” move to make to get the top draft pick on the field.
