Milwaukee Bucks: Encouraged To Trade For Oklahoma City Thunder Role Player

The Milwaukee Bucks and the Oklahoma City Thunder are two NBA franchises trending in different directions. Milwaukee is an older NBA team that is trying to fix its roster and get younger this offseason. As for Oklahoma City, they are one of the youngest teams in the NBA and are looking to add some veterans to the roster this offseason.

Bucks general manager Jon Horst wants to build around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard for the long haul. They traded for Lillard last offseason when he was acquired in a three-team trade with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Phoenix Suns.

Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder Could Make a Trade Involving Aaron Wiggins This Offseason

Behindthebuckpass.com writer Tyler Watts mentioned one of seven potential trade sleepers this offseason for the Bucks to make a move for. One of the names he mentioned was Thunder’s Aaron Wiggins. Watts said about the Milwaukee Bucks potentially making a move for Wiggins:

“The 2021 second-round draft pick is blossoming into an impactful option on both ends of the floor. His minutes have decreased yearly in his three NBA seasons, but Oklahoma City is loaded with talent. Wiggins may not be part of the Thunder’s long-term plans, but the 6’6 wing could be the ultimate sleeper acquisition.

In year three, Wiggins averaged 6.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 15.7 minutes per game while shooting 56.2 percent from the field and 49.2 percent on his 3-point tries. He maintained his role in the playoffs and could expand it in the right situation.

Finding an elite shooting wing whose defensive impact continues to improve is not easy. Wiggins is only 25 and set to make under $2 million in the 2024-25 season before heading into free agency next summer.

Are the Thunder willing to give him a significant raise? If not, Wiggins could be on the trade block this summer and be the perfect addition for the Bucks. He would be their starter on the wing next to Khris Middleton. Aaron Wiggins would space the floor for Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo to attack and could give them a needed perimeter boost on the defensive end. “

Moving forward, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s core will be Chet Holmgren, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Josh Giddey. Jalen Williams is another key player for the Thunder moving forward. If Aaron Wiggins was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, he could be a starter next season at the shooting guard position.
