Exeter City don’t take their chance as ‘little moments’ cost them

“It was very disappointing to walk away with nothing,”

Exeter City defender Ben Purrington admitted that the Grecians were left very disappointed to come away with nothing from their trip to Lincoln City. There was little between the two sides on Saturday, but fine margins at either end proved pivotal.

Jack Aitchison at one end for Exeter had the best chance of the game, but saw his effort pushed onto the crossbar. That was crucial as on 67 minutes, after a mistake by Pierce Sweeney, Joe Taylor calmly clipped a finish over Vil Sinisalo for what proved to be the winner.

The Grecians pushed for an equalizer, but couldn’t find one, as after three successive away wins, they slipped to a 1-0 defeat. The loss saw them drop down to 14 th , and was a game that being short on action, they should have come away with something from, despite not being at their best.
