Dodgers' Teoscar Hernández Avoids Serious Injury, Hopes to Return to Lineup Soon

Dodgers News: Teoscar Hernandez Optimistic about Monday’s Return

Teoscar Hernandez of the Los Angeles Dodgers is optimistic about returning to the lineup on Monday after a recent injury scare. Following an MRI and CT scan on his left foot, which showed no serious damage, Hernandez is hopeful he can play against the Chicago Cubs. The outfielder sustained a bruised foot when he was hit by a pitch from Cleveland Guardians pitcher Matthew Boyd during the first inning of Friday’s game.

Initially, it seemed he might be sidelined for a while, as he struggled to move his foot afterward. “Not great,” answered Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts when asked for an update on Hernández. “Scans, X-ray was negative. We’re going to get some scans tomorrow just to kind of dig in a little bit more and get some information. He’s as tough as they come, and he could barely move his foot.

“So I don’t see how it’s not going to be an IL, but I’m sure we’re going to give it a couple days to kind of see how he comes out.” “It’s high,” answered Roberts when asked for his level of concern. “He doesn’t come out of games, and just afterward, typically it subsides with the pain. But it didn’t, so it’s concerning.” However, Hernandez reported feeling better on Saturday, with the swelling in his foot decreasing.

“Very relieved,” manager Dave Roberts said. “Obviously, if it was a fracture, that was probably going to be the end of the season for him, and it would have been a huge loss. “But with the imaging that we received, information we received, we feel good about the day to day and getting him back sometime early next week. I hope it just continues to get better each day.” He missed Saturday’s game, which the Dodgers won 7-2 against the Guardians. In his first season with the Dodgers, Hernandez has made a significant impact, hitting .266 with 28 home runs and 87 RBIs. He also won the Home Run Derby during the All-Star Game festivities in July.
