Thought of as one of the most exciting young talents on the planet when he made the move to Dortmund in July 2019, Reyna had the world at his feet as far as wonderkids go. Four-and-a-half years on, however, the versatile attacking midfielder is merely a bench option for BVB.

Reyna was a regular throughout his first full season in Germany as he notched four goals and seven assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances. Game time has reduced ever since, though, with just 1,279 league minutes accumulated over the last two-and-a-half campaigns combined.

Football Transfers reports Villa are trying to offer Reyna a route out of Germany as they believe they can help him reach his sky-high potential. It’s claimed the Villans have made an official approach to Dortmund, asking for the required conditions of any deal Wolves and Forest also keen on Reyna

Unai Emery’s side face competition for Reyna from fellow Premier League clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest. The pair have also reportedly asked Dortmund about the 21-year-old as they hope to make a January deal happen.

Reyna, who has racked up 24 appearances and seven goals for United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), can play on either flank, as a number 10, or even as a deep-lying playmaker. ESPN reports Dortmund have asked for €15 million (£12.8 million) from interested parties.
