Former Dragons back Evan Lloyd re-signs for Ebbw Vale

PROLIFIC fly-half Evan Lloyd has boosted Ebbw Vale by signing up for the 2024/25 Super Rygbi Cymru campaign.

The 24-year-old from Hollybush was a key figure in helping the Steelmen make both the semi-finals of the Premiership and the Premiership Cup.

Lloyd, who worked well alongside both Jonathan Evans and Rory Harries, finished as the top scorer in the league with 244 points (and a success rate from the tee of 70 per cent), 21 ahead of nearest challenger Matthew Jarvis of Pontypool.

The fly-half made three appearances for the Dragons in 2020/21 and returned to train with the professional side last December, working alongside younger brother and scrum-half Morgan.

Now Lloyd will return to Eugene Cross Park to add to his appearances for Jason Strange’s side after passing his half-century last season.

It has been a busy week of news for Ebbw, who announced full-back Morgan Richards and lock/flanker Ewan McIntyre have followed in the footsteps of the June batch of re-signings.

The Steelmen have also brought in wing Hamish Anderson from Bedwas, scrum-half Dan Buffery from Cross Keys and centre Cameron Davies after he was with them last season while on the books of the Dragons academy.
