Cowboys Re-Signing Key Veteran From 2023 Offense
The Dallas Cowboys have retained a valuable member along the offensive line.
The Dallas Cowboys have been remarkably quiet throughout the offseason, failing to make any splash signings.
They have resigned RB Rico Dowdle and CB Jourdan Lewis and they continued the trend of retaining their own players.
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Cowboys are resigning OL Chuma Edoga, likely on a one-year deal. This is a quality signing due to his ability to play both tackle and guard.
Cowboys News: Chuma Edoga Is Going to Return in 2024
The loss of Tyron Smith emphasized Dallas’ need to bring Edoga back to town. The USC product started six games for the Cowboys last year and was solid in those outings.
In those six starts, Edoga showcased his versatility. He played 312 snaps at left tackle and 101 snaps at left guard.
Per PFF, Edoga finished with a 61.4 overall grade in 2023. This signing now gives the Cowboys some flexibility going into the draft.
Tyron left Dallas after 13 seasons with the club. That left a massive hole at tackle but many believe the Cowboys will kick out Tyler Smith to that spot now.
Putting Tyler at left tackle then creates another hole at guard but now Edoga can fill in that void. With the NFL Draft taking place later this month, the Cowboys don’t need to force a selection with OL in the first round.
They can let that draft board fall to them and pick the best player available. If that selection is an offensive line, great! But it’s not a dire need anymore.
Nonetheless, Dallas has one of the best rosters in the NFL. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Cowboys have the fifth-highest odds (+1300) to win the Super Bowl. If you like these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and take advantage of your sign-up bonus.
